Junior high teachers generally lecture more than elementary teachers. They also discuss material not included in the students’ workbooks. Therefore, students need to learn how to take good notes. Students who know how to take good notes have a definite advantage in school. Taking Notes illustrates several notetaking strategies including paraphrasing, outlining, summarizing, and column notetaking. The advantages of each strategy are discussed.
