The Writing School Paper's teacher’s manual focuses on junior high students developing effective writing and study skills. The workbook Scripture verse, “It seemed good to me also . . . to write unto thee in order . . .” (Luke 1:3), is the general biblical theme.

Each lesson outline includes learning objectives, a list of student and teacher materials, content overview, suggested teaching methods, evaluation ideas, and examples of integrated biblical principles. All Scripture references are taken from the King James Version of the Bible. Supplementary ideas and reproducible handouts are also included in the teacher’s manual. Adapt the lesson instructions to meet the needs of your classroom.

The 18 lessons can generally be completed in twenty minutes, although some lessons require as little as ten minutes and others (especially those involving group work) might require twenty-five to thirty minutes. After Lesson 9, the remainder of the workbook can be completed over a time period that correlates with the subtasks for the research report rather than on a lesson-per-day or lesson-per-week basis. Teachers will want to make this decision based on the course and time frame in which the workbook and the research report are studied.

This study can be a graded or non-graded class. Some of the activities or tasks lend themselves to objective evaluation. The real test of the study is in the ability of the students to become proficient in their writing abilities. Proof of their learning will be evident in the school papers they write.
